Apple Pastry Popper

Ingredients for Apples In Pastry Recipe

* 2 pounds apples
* 1 pint cold water
* 2 pounds loaf sugar
* Dash of cinnamon
* Juice of a small lemon
* 1 teaspoon butter
* Pie pastry
* Custard
* 1 teaspoon red jelly
* 1 egg white

Instructions

1. Peel and core apples.
2. Put them into the water with loaf sugar, a little cinnamon, lemon juice, and a little butter.
3. Boil to a pulp.
4. Grease a pie dish and line it with a good pastry about half an inch thick.
5. Place the apple pulp inside, pour custard over it, and ornament with alternate dots of red jelly and white of egg.
6. Bake it in a hot oven for 20 minutes.
7. Lift the pastry out of the dish before serving.
8. Sufficient for five persons.
